This is the website of archaeologist and author Gary Devore. He specializes in the ancient Roman world.

He has written a novel (Pantheon) and a Guidebook to Rome (Walking Tours of Ancient Rome). He is currently working on a murder mystery set on Hadrian's Wall in the third century.

He has been a lecturer at Stanford University and the University of California at Santa Cruz. He has directed archaeological projects in Italy and the UK. He can be contacted at

He is not the Hollywood screenwriter who died in 1997.
